24/04/17 5 Friends, family and fellow students. All of which have experience with video games. Playtesters will spend 1 minute playing our game. They will not be told anything prior to playing the game (to test the games functionality/communication). During gameplay we will act as observers taking notes on the playtesters strategy and ethical approach to the game. After the time has elapsed the playtesters will be asked a series of questions based on the games engagement, and appropriateness to the intended theme.
Resources: First level of the game presented as a unity executable, presented on a computer. Audio recording device. Google form interview questionnaire. A note take device (laptop).

Goal 1: For users to understand that the game is topically accurate and the gameplay is engaging and reflects reality Playtesters will be asked a series of questions based on the gameplays theme and whether it is engaging. Testers will be asked a series of question.

  1. How Engaging was the play experience? (scale)
  2. How will you rate the games realism (1-5)?
  3. How would you rate the games ability to capture the police/drug raid/bodycam topic?
Review playtesting questionnaire and assess whether or not they understand the topic for the game. Furthermore assess whether or not the players found the game realistic. Finally, assess whether not the gameplay is engaging.
Goal 2: The player uses strategy during the gameplay, where the player is graded based on their ethical performance. Observers will take notes based on their strategy during the gameplay. Furthermore, playtesters ethical performance will be evaluated based on the games generated ethical score, which will be recorded by observers.. Observe how the testers play whilst taking observer notes. Compare notes on each tester and assess how ethical the players were based on their ethical score. If the majority of the players ethical score was good, based on predetermined factors, then the goal was successful.
Goal 3: The game has a clear objective for players to follow and the game functions as intended Observers will evaluate the testers ability to adhere to the mission brief displayed in game. Playtesters will then be asked whether the game functions as intended. Observe how the testers play whilst taking observer notes. Testers will then be asked a series of question.

  1. Did you understand your mission?
  2. Did the game work? Yes, No? Explain…
Review playtesting questionnaire and assess whether or  not the players understood the mission (objective) of the game. Furthermore assess whether the players thought the game worked as intended and their reasons why they thought that.
